Here at TechCare, we’re always on the lookout for talented people to join our team. One of our newest starters is Dan, who has joined TechCare as a Senior Software Engineer. Dan designs bespoke systems for our clients so it’s likely you’ll be speaking to him soon! We sat down with Dan to get to know him better. Read on to find out more about what a typical day to day is like for our latest recruit and why every client should always know what their end goal is.

Hi Dan, first of all, what’s your new job role at TechCare?

I am Senior Software Engineer at TechCare. This consists of web-based application development in a multitude of coding languages. I start from the ground up building web applications to suit the end user and the client, whether that’s for a large business management tool or a quoting system.

What’s great is the creative freedom to create bespoke software for clients and add in my own creative flair to projects, whilst trying to stay current with design and coding trends.

What’s a typical day like for you now?

My days are great – I work with a great team who have a laugh and work hard. I tend to do a lot of problem solving and analysis of how to make a process or processes faster. Web applications take a great amount of planning, database planning and infrastructure to make them work, so I spend a lot of time working out how we can get from A to B without needing any extra steps.

What IT experience do you have?

I have been into web design and graphic design for well over a decade, starting off in Wolverhampton working with the Lighthouse on CGI projects in 3ds Max and Maya. I have since studied PHP, SQL, Java and Laravel; but I am very well versed in HTML 5, Bootstrap, CSS, and UX Design as well. I have created websites for national sports teams and blue chip companies.

What do you enjoy most about your new role so far?

The team at TechCare is brilliant and I couldn’t ask for a nicer bunch of people to work with. I love a challenge and trying to find new ways to do things that are not always the way I initially thought. I am a logical thinker so tend to put everything in order before I start. Mostly I just love building bespoke software for businesses.

What’s the one piece of advice you give to all clients?

There is not one singular piece of advice I would give clients but I would always advise anyone looking for a bespoke software solution to know what their end goal is. This means we can work out how we can get you there.

Secondly, always have a single contact to work with so there are no crossed wires.

What do you enjoy outside of work?

Exploring! Every weekend I jump in the car and go find somewhere new with my dogs. I also have a passion for film and music and I am regularly at the cinema or a gig or festival.
